Kristy Deep, MD, MA, FACP

Program Director
Professor of Medicine

Dr. Kristy Deep is a native of Breathitt County, Kentucky and completed all her medical training here at UK. She has a Masters in bioethics from the Medical College of Wisconsin and is board certified in both internal medicine and hospice and palliative medicine. Kristy has been the program director since 2013. She loves finding new ways to make the program better for her residents and the patients we serve. Her academic interests are clinical evaluation and faculty development. Clinically, she has a passion for ethics, end of life care, and opioid stewardship. Outside of work, Kristy spends as much time as possible in the woods—on her mountain bike, boat, or trail running— and tries (unsuccessfully) to convince her two (strong-willed) teenage daughters to come along.

Devin Oller, MD

Associate Program Director
Assistant Professor of Medicine

Dr. Oller has lived in all 4 commonwealths in the US, concluding Kentucky is best. Virginia was his first stop, graduating from the College of William & Mary with a BA in English. Pennsylvania was next; he spent 4 years in the city of brotherly love learning about medicine at Temple University, helping to start one of the first med student-run suboxone clinics in the country. Most recently, he completed residency, a rural health leadership fellowship, & chief residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. Fleeing the cold, northeastern winters with his native Kentuckian wife, he decamped to Lexington in 2018. When he’s not seeing patients in his primary care practice or on the Addiction Consultation and Education Service (ACES) at UK, you’ll find him running the legacy trail, hiking/camping national parks with his wife, and tending to their 6 chickens (all named “Nugget”).

Sarah Schuetz, MD

Dr. Schuetz completed her undergraduate and graduate training in dietetics at the University of Kentucky. She then completed her medical training at UK where she served as a Primary Care Chief Resident and now works as a clinic attending. Her academic interests include preventative medicine and motivational interviewing. She truly bleeds blue and jokes that her car doesn't know how to drive anywhere else. If you have an hour to listen, she will tell you the many reasons why she and her family loves Lexington and the Wildcats!

Associate Professor of Medicine

Dr. Gibson completed her undergraduate, medical school, and residency training at UK. She has been on faculty for many years, and recently serviced as the Primary Care Tract Program Director from 2003-2020. Dr. Gupta is an Ohio original. Born in Cincinnati, he went to undergrad at Miami of Ohio and attended medical school at the University of Cincinnati. After almost leaving medical school for culinary school, Dr. Gupta completed his residency at the Cleveland Clinic where he was chief resident. He then decided to explore his neighbor to the south and completed his fellowship here at UK along with a fellowship in Advanced Cardiac Imaging. Dr. Gupta is an explorer at heart. If he’s not being chased by wild boars in India or getting himself impaled in England, he’s exploring ways to improve on the status quo in cardiology. Now in his “old age” you can find him in the imaging suite or inspiring curious minds to challenge the status quo for generations to come.

Kristen Fletcher, MD

Core Clinical Faculty and VA Site Director
Assistant Professor of Medicine

Dr. Fletcher moved from northern Indiana to Lexington, Kentucky at the age of 18 and fell in love with and in Lexington, which resulted in her gluttony of undergraduate, medical school and residency training completion at the University of Kentucky. Her final year of residency, she served as Med/Peds Chief Resident, which was followed by an additional year in the role of Internal Medicine Chief Resident. She now serves as an academic hospitalist at the Lexington VA Health Services, where she continues to exude her love of teaching residents the softer side of medicine and clinical reasoning. She and her otolaryngologist husband share two mini-me's: a sass-a-frass daughter and a chillax son. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys getting stamps on her passport, group fitness classes, and attempts at gardening.

John Romond, MD

Core Clinical Faculty
Assistant Professor of Medicine

John Romond did most of his growing up in Lexington, Kentucky, moved away after college and returned for medical school in 2006 as a nontraditional student.  This was followed by a Med/Peds residency at UK in 2010 and a faculty position in the division of Hospital Medicine in 2014.  When not playing with his two children, he enjoys pursing his professional goals of fixing healthcare, teaching residents the glamourous profession of inpatient medicine and helping doctors to communicate with their patients.

Angela Webb, MD

Core Clinical Faculty
Associate Professor of Medicine

Dr. Angela Webb considers herself a native Tennessean but has been a Kentucky transplant for over 15 years now. She and her husband met at Belmont University in Nashville and crossed state lines to return to his Old Kentucky Home for their medical school training. She soon discovered that she loved all aspects of medicine and realized her true passion was in primary care with its emphasis on health promotion and the shared decision making process in the long term physician patient relationship. She later served as Chief Resident and has supreme empathy for anyone in that role. She and her nephrologist husband have 3 kids and jokingly refer to this phase in their life as one of “Joyful Chaos.”  She loves to plan travel almost as much as she loves to travel.  She is thankful for her job as part of UK healthcare and is thrilled to get to work with such wonderful staff, residents, med students, and patients.
